Artist History
Deluz started out as a vision for me, Quitze Martinez.
I wanted to create a band that took various musical influences such as jazz, heavy metal, blues, and latin, then
mesh them together to create a song. Because of the wide spectrum of choices the flow of music would of course never run dry.
(1/00) In search of other musicians that shared my vision I ended up recruiting my brother Jasiel Martinez
and two high school friends H.L. Garcia and John Dominguez. My brother played the drums, H.L. ,guitar, John ,bass, and me vocals and guitar.
At first our drive to reach success was very strong. We played a local coffee house in downtown Austin named Ruta Mayas regularly. We also tried many attempts to record worthy demos,
yet we never did. Our lack of focus and funds prevented us from making anything worth listening to. As time went on the band began to fall apart. Our last gig in Austin was at the 710 room, then because of conflicting interests
H.L. left the band. Shortly there after my brother moved from Austin. That only left Me and John. Yet, before my brother left we did finally get a chance to record three demo songs at Esophagus Records. These were the first demos that we were satisfied with.
(1/01)After several months of down time I finally befriended a drummer named Alex Biko.
Who I must say is an exceptional drummer. He had his own band, (Herbamate), yet agreed to be a temp drummer for us until we found a replacement. I must add that if any one is in the Austin area on Sundays
they should make an attempt to travel downtown to see these guys play at the Flamingo Cantina. Herbamate is an amazing band and I was greatly inspiried by their music.
(3/02)Well this brings us to the present, I have finally found a replacement drummer,
hopefully, and am also in the process of recruiting a guitar player. Until then we are just going to gig as a trio. We are also trying to record a full length album at Terra studios here in Austin. The demo song Pretty is one of the songs recorded at a session there.
The end is unsure, but someday we hope to give the world music that will inspire lives forever. Thank you for reading.
