Artist description
Joanne Schreiber is a guitarist, singer, songwriter who has
developed a truly unique musical style. Her tastes & influences
are eclectic & range from Stravinksy to Aretha. Joanne is
soulful & passionate & expresses these qualities through her voice,
melodies, & lyrics. The result is music that is sweetly haunting,
as well as uplifting. An instrumentalist at heart, one of Joanne's
trademarks is her 'big' guitar sound. Joanne's guitarwork is
imaginative, layered & highly percussive giving the impression
of several instruments being played at once.
"I tend to hear melody lines & rhythmic patterns
first before I hear words or lyrics. I enjoy exploring
ways in which sound meets & textures silence.
More importantly to me is the transcendent nature
of music & not neccessarily how one approaches it.
Music is an equalizer. It transcends all boundaries
& whatever we imagine divides us. For me music goes
right to the essence & gives voice to what is
unspoken. There's an immediacy to it that I love,
a way that I can easily connect & join together with
others on a most essential level. What could be better?!" |
