Artist History
…stripped…
Life on the road can wreck some people – others, it inspires and shapes. Ever since Tean was a child travelling with his family across North America in a motor home and (for a time) living out of their car, people and places have affected him deeply. It started to shape his songwriting as he toured with his former bands (Thrill of it All and Spackle) meeting fellow musicians, cheerleaders and the best of all… fans.
Tean’s musical journey has taken him from learning to play the drums in a holy roller church at the age of 12, to writing songs at 14, then forming a couple of bands and stepping out as guitarist and vocalist. Today, Tean soars as a solo artist. In fact, he has taken it to the extreme, by writing, performing, engineering, arranging and producing his new album, Stripped.
…bare…
Songs are about more than words and music – there is vibe, philosophy, desire… and Tean’s music screams, spills and trips with more than its fair share. His first solo effort, Stripped, contains nine of the most vivid pop-rock songs ever. Written over an 18-month period after having come to the realisation that he didn’t want to be in a band situation anymore (i.e. Spackle), these songs represent his liberation and emotional journey. With song titles like Trapped in Amber, Baby Got Gun and Over U, he reaches out, touches and gets inside the listener.

Press Reviews
"Tean is one of the most gifted writer/performers I’ve worked with. There’s a lot more original depth in his writing than one normally finds in young artists." – Tom Tucker (Prince, Jonny Lang, Brand New Heavies)
"… (the music) is a collection of snapshots, perceptions and angles – some funky, sexy and light, like a warm hug and others downright nasty." T’cha Dunlevy (The Montreal Gazette)
"… (the music) is a smart, coy courtship that catches on, keeps up and never conks out. 8 out of 10." T’cha Dunlevy (The Montreal Gazette)
"… features a wide-ranging mix of punk, jazz, funk… with a bit of heavy metal-ish stuff thrown in. And that doesn’t include the gospel tinge that hangs around the outside of some songs… If sex were a musical genre, (he’d) specialize in that." – Sarah Chauncey (Canadian Musician)
"There’s not much NOT to like about… (the music) unless the only thing you can do on the dance floor is act like a fucking corpse and play dead!" – am (Splendid e-zine)
