    Artist History
Still Life was formed in late 1998 when many of the members of previous Connecticut bands parted ways. Still Life guitar player Greg Romeo, formerly of Third Mind, sought out bassist Ryan Hewey of Felix Lawn and began assembling a final line-up for their new project. David Outlaw of Grey was then enlisted to fill the role of drummer while Jim Fusco, also of Third Mind, was added to round out the rhythm section - the band still needed an equally impressive frontman. After numerous applicants the band decided on newcomer Millie to fill the position. Still Life was now complete. After months of writing, the band had contrived nine songs they felt worthy of showing to an audience. In their debut show at the Webster Theater in Hartford, CT they drew an enormous crowd, outselling both national bands on the bill. This response prompted Still Life to continue touring with their new material. Still Life has since shared the stage with such notable acts as Vanilla Ice, Caroline's Spine, The Claypeople, The Misfits, and Snapcase. The band makes frequent appearences at CBGB's and The Limelight in New York City. They have played local venues such as the Webster Theater in Hartford, CT and have played out as far as the Coconut Teaszer in Hollywood, CA. Still Life's powerful live performances and energetic presence have kept crowds coming back for more. In the summer of 2000 the band's members decided that it was time to take a break from touring and commit these nine tracks to tape. Still Life recruited producer Zeuss, who has been behind such national projects as Shadows Fall and God Forbid, to begin recording their tentatively titled album "Missing the Perfect". Production was completed in late summer and the album was slated for release in winter of 2001. Since it's release, "Missing the Perfect" has received positive reviews from such notable critics as Wookubus from The Pimp Rock Palace (theprp.com). He describes Still Life as "…easily one of the most gifted acts to emerge in recent time" Three tracks from the album projected Still Life to the status of December 2000 Featured Rock Artist on the farmclub.com. In addition, they were selected as The Pimp Rock Palace Band of the Month for January 2001. Since the official launch of Still Life's website, they have received 78,000 hits and hundreds of merchandise orders. Still Life is currently touring and is in the final writing stages for their sophomore effort. Production for the new album is slated for late 2001. Still Life is presently seeking the backing of a major record label.

Still Life has managed to create a sound that is nearly indescribable and is clearly their own brand of music. By fusing nu-metal elements & post-hardcore influences with alternative & traces of emo, Still Life has forged a vibrant kaleidoscope of colliding aggression & seething melodies, driven by intense, heartfelt emotions. Meanwhile, the group’s songwriting is highly intelligent & mature, featuring unexpected tempo shifts, distinctive breakdowns, diverse song structures and a variety of sonic nuances. However, no matter how clever or innovative their songwriting may be, if not for the group’s incredibly skilled musicianship & masterful execution, the group would not be able to bring to life their vivid soundscapes, rife with shimmering rhythms, dynamic drum work & distorted, crunch-filled riffs contrasted by brooding melodies, and atmospheric effects. This is where Still Life truly excels as a band, with their professional musicianship, tight band camaraderie and a fearless confidence in their abilities, which enables the group to accurately manifest their ideas & passions as well as allow them the freedom to experiment & improvise. Overall, Still Life has managed to transcend the restraints that seem to limit so many young bands, and have created a sonic experience that is undeniably fresh, invigorating & engaging. ~ Robert Thompson from dynamicrock.com Their talent for writing romantic yet fiercely aggressive song structures is top notch and the material they have laid out on this stellar effort is a pleasing listen through and through. With constant buildup's, slick musicianship and a wide variety of influences, the group shine on almost every track on this effort and do so in a genuine manner that doesn't feel contrived or stereotypical, something which in today's world of clones and stereotypes is truly no easy task. ~ wookubus from theprp.com
