Artist description
the music i like best fuses lyrics, vocals and music into a sensory experience full of emotion and reflection. far to the left on kim's scale is that guilty pleasure-laden song from your youth that you listen to on the sly, far to the right is dylan's lyrical might delivered in an unlistenable rasp. right in the center (perfection) are rickie lee jones, joni mitchell, poe, tori amos, ani difranco. these are the heroes whom we seek to emulate with our music.
if you like air, sneaker pimps, natalie merchant, or morcheeba you may like us. if moulin rouge had a profound impact on you then we deserve a listen.
emma claire (new york, ny) provides all of the vocals on the album. her voice is clear, calm, and rich, low and enveloping, high and pure.
kim galibert (new rochelle, ny) tweaks and coaxes keyboards, bass, percussion, guitar, loops and delay into a cinematic plasma that seeps and unfolds into the space between your ears.
the other fine musicians represented here include: terry hopper (drums, drum programming), matt fish (cello), steven worthy (guitar, production), and dan covan (electronic percussion).
although we tend to categorize ourselves as "acid jazz", acid folk or folktronica might be more accurate. a lot of 80's music creeps in as well (an inescapable influence). we have striven to create tunes that are musical, fresh, music that is evocative of sad summer afternoons and dark wintry evenings.
this album was recorded on a desktop pc (at first, a celeron 500mhz, later a celeron 1.3ghz), using calkwalk pro audio 9, and cool edit pro. the "studio" is kim's sun porch, surrounded by a brigade of the loudest crickets known to man, a great place to find someone who is awake at 4am eastern. an abridged gear listing includes: alesis keyboards, korg synths, roland handsonic, line6 echo modeler and pod, lexicon jamman, presonus compressors, and the sans amp bass driver di. all of the album artwork was created and submitted digitally. it's amazing what you can do with your computer these days.

Music Style
cinematic music that seeps languorously in, penetrating the space between your skull and the knobby knurled surfaces of your brain. play it while you daydream on a quiet sunny afternoon. savor it on a cold wintry night as you reflect by the fire. |
