Artist description Based in the Southern College town of Athens, GA, Ricky Fitzpatrick is following in the hallowed footsteps of Athens-based heroes such as REM, John Berry, The Normaltown Flyers and dozens of others. "Athens is a real hot bed for music", he says. "It's a great place to build a career if you like the college crowd." Armed with a solo acoustic guitar, an occasional programmed drum/bass track and an unmistakable voice, Ricky is hitting all the local hot spots. Originals, covers, a mix...whatever the crowds like. And like, they do. The local newspaper has been quoted as saying he is "headed for the Country Music Hall of Fame." And fans say he's the single greatest pure vocal talent to come out of Athens in over a decade. "I'll take that.", he laughs. "But, truly, all I really WANT to do is write...write those great timeless songs that last forever...songs that make you laugh...cry...think.
