Artist History
Since forming in 1994, the West Michigan-based rock group TRUDG have made some great strides, especially for a totally independent group. Having warmed-up for national touring acts as well as headlining venues across the Mid-West, the band has left a lasting impression on music fans every time they took the stage. It seems their brand of riff-heavy, vocally strong rock has an appeal to all listeners, regardless of age.
In 1996, TRUDG put together a collection of their original songs on a demo cd which had local fans paying up to $40 per copy. This was proof enough to the members that people were listening, so in 1998 the group took a loan from a local bank to finance their first full-length totally independent cd entitled "1994-?" after the year in which the band was founded. The group secured deals with Believe in Music, Media Play, and other retail outlets to help in the sale of this project, and within months had sold every copy printed. A second pressing of the 1994 disc, and many performances later, TRUDG has finished sessions for the new project, (aptly named "Habit") totally on revenues from the sale of their merchandise and live performances.
With the release of Habit drawing ever nearer, the band is beginning the task of searching for professional representation to help make the step from local talent to national artists. Consisting of five seasoned members from the West Michigan music scene, TRUDG has seen as many ups as downs, and has surely proven that they have the experience it takes to stay together and continue writing quality music which is strong and emotional. |
