Artist description
Music is a language of the soul. Each of my songs carry a splinter of myself, broken away as I hurtle continuously towards self-discovery. Beware: some of these songs have grown self-aware, and others seem to draw the attention of utterly alien minds which could destroy humanity unawares. |

Artist History
First I got into programming (i.e. computer hacking) at age 8 (1989). I started off in music circa 1996 programming sound and noise collages, inspired by the Church of the SubGenius. Around 1998 I formed a political grindcore band called N/tro/P. I wrote and sang the lyrics, John Fisher (of The Republican'ts) played guitar, Sam LaScuola played bass, and Marissa attempt to make percussive noises and torture my cat (grrr). After that venture miserably failed, I started working on solo experimental electronics, still using the name N/tro/P. In 1999 I recorded a song with Worm while I was still living at my parents' house, referring to it as done by N/tro/P feat. Worm. In August of 2000, while I was secretly living above my friend's uncle's car insurance business in Hampstead (The One Room Kitchenette Studio), I was helping Worm record a couple of songs, and these prompted the inclusion of Worm as a member of N/tro/P. We continued writing and recording in my new house in Greenmount (The Silver Key Studio). August 2001 I stayed at my parents' house while I was in between residences and recorded two songs with Jon Fuhrman under the name Trauma Hound (after the Skinny Puppy song Deep Down Trauma Hounds). Sept. 1st, 2001 I moved to Ellicott City, and I separated my solo work from my collaborations with Worm (H. P. Malepardus and Die N.tro.P, respectively), and changed my pseudonym from Reynard the Fox (my old hacker alias) to Hyperprism. |

Press Reviews
"it reminds me of the moon, and the stars.
an infinite world.
climbing through space...
everything is blue. pale blue.
lots of light being reflected, like crystals
dreams...
eternity
and now its over.
it felt like a world of... unequal gravity... things were heavy, then without weight... like the feeling you get, when you run out of breath, your head gets fuzzy...
and things seem distant, and out of proportion.
but warm"
-Dr. Gerald Magdalena Mearay, in reference to the song "Azatoth" |
