Artist description
Since it's hideous inception in 1998, the monster that is Death Becomes You has grown from a fledgling into a full-grown beast. Having received much local and international press and acclaim, and opening for numerous national acts, such as Marky Ramone and the Intruders, Christian Death, Dirty Rotten Imbeciles, Mortiis, Kill Allen Wrench, Impotent Sea Snakes, Godhead, The 8 Bucks Experiment (Seen in the movie SLC Punk) Razed In Black, Switchblade Symphony and Misfits spin-off Graves, Death Becomes You threatens to swallow all that stand in its path. The band has progressed much musically since the Halloween '99 release of its debut EP "Unearthed". The early material showcased on this recording drew much inspiration from classic horror b-movies and Horror Punk pioneers "The Misfits". But the band has been gradually experimenting, and their newer material represents a much wider range of influences, from The Ramones and TSOL to Alice Cooper and KISS, and is evolving into what drummer Christopher Lee has dubbed "Grave Wave", since in this genre-obsessed industry no currently existing label accurately describes the band. From in-your-face death-punk blasts to brooding gothic overtones, the band is so diverse that no single song can accurately represent their entire catalog.
Because of the band's name, and their unique style, Death Becomes You have more than once been stamped "Death Metal" or compared to Marilyn Manson. But nothing could be further from the truth. DBY are punk, pure and simple. The band has long held that the main qualifications and only qualifications for a punk band are a relatively simple sound, without which many lose sight of the point, and a willingness to challenge sterotypes and break away from the norm, to do your own thing. In a word, Balls. It doesn't take a genius to realize that Death Becomes You has both. Songs like "Planet Graveyard"and "Bats in the Belfry" challenge people to look at the world they've created, and to think for themselves. "Lay Waste the World" encourages people not to be one of the sheep, but to be a wolf. To get off their asses and take control of their lives. Drawing everyone from punks to metalheads to goths with their distinct sound and KISS-like live theatrics, Death Becomes You is growing like a virus and Florida will soon be unable to contain them. "Rock & Roll has become a ghetto," they proclaim. "We will now turn it into a graveyard!"

Artist History
Much has happened in the world of Death Becomes You since their October 99 release of "Unearthed". The band has opened for numerous national acts, including noted Misfits spin-off "Graves" and the now Defunct "Marky Ramone and the Intruders". On November 24th, the band released the album "The Tarnished Tapes of Transylvania". This first first full-length includes the five songs from "Unearthed," as well as 7 newly recorded songs, packaged in a DVD case with artwork by renowned artist Jeff Gaither and a Booklet designed by lead singer and creative genius John Janos; all assembled and released by the band themselves. The "Tapes" just hit the streets not six months ago, and Death Becomes You, the band that never sleeps, is already hard at work in the studio recording new material for their next horrific recording endeavor, and you, the fiend, can get a sneak peek right |
