Artist History
8 Ohm Apple began in the summer of 2001 when drummer Quade Finnicum contacted singer Matt Roche to begin a new project in the Detroit, Michigan area. Quade and Matt had befriended in the early 90's having been members of local defunct bands Botfly and Rubberhead (respectivley). Roche and bassist Matt Novello had been working together on a few projects already during this time - namely Grizzly Peach, (and a first attempt at forming a quickly faded 8 Ohm Apple). The last task was finding a guitar player. After scouting the Michigan area, they found fellow Detroit native and former Merge member John Antone to fill the spot. The band began writing songs and recorded a 4 song demo in January 2002 at Rustbelt Studios in Royal Oak, Michigan. The tracks were recorded under the direction of Bob Ebiling, mostly known for his talents with Kid Rock. |
