Artist description
Viviane's first single "Sa Ma Nene" caught Senegal by storm. Her soulful singing, and the blend of traditional and modern vocal styles put her at the top of the charts.
Viviane was known as a background vocalist in Youssou N'Dour's band "Le Super Etoile", but three albums later she is a force in her own right. "Nature" and "Between Us" have confirmed her status as one of the leading new artists in Africa.

Artist History
Viviane was born in Mbour, a big cultural town 80k from Dakar. She started singing with a small local band at a very early age, and soon went on perform with a band that played big hotels and resorts in Mbour. In 1993 she joined the 'Super Etoile' of Youssou N'Dour and sang on some of Youssou's biggest tracks.
Today Viviane is one of the biggest selling artists in Senegal. She sings about love, relationships, women's rights and social issues. The young 'Diva', a role model to many young women.
In 2001 Viviane formed the 'Jolof Band' and put out her first live album, 'Le Show', featuring more percussive rhythms and melodies. Viviane and the Jolof Band are currently touring Africa, Europe, and America. |
