Artist History
Surrounded by a musical family, it was no surprise that Tony picked up the guitar at age 4, and performed his first song (about his cat) at show & tell by the age of 6. By junior high Tony was taking lessons from as many teachers as he could find (including four years with classical composer Michael Troase), formed a band and was playing eight hours a day. By the age of 16 Tony and his band, tired of playing school dances and open mics, found a manager who could rig them into the 21+ scene and as far as they knew, were the youngest band to ever play the clubs in Seattle. With a ton of gigs under his belt Tony left his hometown of Vashon Island to study at Musicians Institute in Los Angeles, where he would graduate at the top of his class. Upon his move back to the Northwest Tony won many guitar-orientated events including claiming the titles of Seattles Best Guitarist at the annual Guitar Starz competition and Best guitarist at the Guitar Center Shredathon all before he was old enough to watch the other finalist!
Focused on writing and performing, Tony formed and led the band Saqqara to the Seattle scene with intensity. Saqqara became the most requested local band on KISW (Seattles #1 rock station) for three consecutive months, opened for many national acts, recorded a full length record with producer Jonathan Plum (Candle Box, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam) at London Bridge studios and began to pack out every performance. Looking for a more diverse side project, Tony joined the Backseatgodz (El doinko records, Mexico) and immediately wrote and recorded their sonic glue record, which spawned three singles that hit the Mexican charts. After a follow up tour of Mexico (all over Mexico), the Backseatgodz agreed upon a 10 month hiatus that Tony spent in L.A. making new connections, learning more about the game and having fun Cali-style. The Backseatgodz once again went into the studio where they would write and record gene pool, their most adventurous record to date. Tony is currently collaborating with new musicians for an up-coming project- |
