    Artist History
January 2001: Dave Hewett, Dan Moeller, and Dave Morton discuss plans to play together in a band to be named later Late January 2001: The Daves and Dan play in Dave's Basement with Dave H on Guitar and vocals, Dan on bass, and Dave M on drums for the first time. Things go a little bad and plans are made to recruit more musicans Even Later January 2001: Drawing on a previous band experince, Dan brings the guys to Timmy Erdmann (TIMMAY!) Things make a slight improvment, but Dave has difficulty with the guitar and vocals at the same time..an improvment is needed. February 2001: Rich Meyers makes an offer to join the existing band...the guys accept and the original Driftwood is formed! However, a name was not yet decided on. A list is compiled a few weeks later. Over the months, such ideas were "Exit" "Gate" "Exit Gate" and "Kanopic Jars". May 11th 2001: After 2 months of practices, the band debuts nameless at the SHHS talent show by performing the Foo Fighter's Everlong, 4th in the Show Lineup. Technical problems and stage fright inhibit the perfomance from being totally rocking. Early June 2001: Dave Morton, longtime drummer, quits, citing personal reasons. Dan still loves him, apparently. Late June 2001: Rich gets Steve Koons to sit in with the band for the summer. Work continues on covers. August 2001: Rich goes to PSU, and Steve Koons quits to join another band. Mid September 2001: Morton gets word that the drummer opening is available again and asks to play with the group. Kyle Shank is also invited to play guitar behind Timmy. About 3 Days Later: The Band as we know it now practices for the first time. Their first project is Weezer's "The Good Life" About a week later: The Name Driftwood is decided upon. It was originally picked from a dictionary at random. A week later: Website is launced...T-Shirt campaign fails miserably. Weezer's Tired of Sex is the new project, in place of The Good Life. 10.9.01: A huge date for Driftwood. For the best interest in the band, Dave moves from lead vocals to guitar, and Kyle moves from guitar to lead vocals. The lineup change was done mutually and all parties were satisfied. 12.9.01: Dave Hewett leaves the band for creative reasons. And that takes us to TODAY...keep it here for more history -DAM
