Artist description
Melodic PunkRock from the eastcoast of the Netherlands. Until this day we've played a number of shows with bands like Reaching Forward, Face Tomorrow, Section 8, Dependent, Lab Rat, Last day reign, to name a couple of them. People like to call our music pretty fast and very melodic punk rock with strong and critical lyrics. Our lyrics have different subjects such as personal experiences in life, our (political) opinions about the society we live in and our point of view on global problems as militarism, discrimination and so on. However, we (as individuals) have our own point of view and ideals. There for we only discuss subjects in our songs we all agree with. |

Artist History
In 1998 Willem and Yvo already knew each other for about 5 years from skating in their hometowns. When in the summer of 1998 Yvo bought his first electric guitar, Willem asked him if Yvo was willing to play some punk rock tunes together. They started making jokes about forming a band but it was never really serious. But then Yvo met Rutger, who plays drums, and asked him if he was interested in playing in a punk rock band. Fortunately Rutger wanted to give it a shot. Willem asked Pieter if he wanted to join Antillectual to play bass and he also gave in on the proposal. Pieter was the singer of another punk band from Nijmegen Last to go and Willem knew Pieter through skating as well.
So halfway 1999 they were with four kids, willing to play but still missing a singer. After having played together for three or four times Willem went to the USA for five months (January-May 2000), a lot would happen during his absence. Rutger decided punk rock wasn't the music he wanted to play. He decided to focus on his other bands (If I knew, Lab Rat, P.A.Y.E). Months went by and three weeks before Willem's return Yvo met Bob. He heard him talking about playing drums and Yvo asked if he wanted to play in a band and Bob got excited. The four of them started together in September 2000 and from then on it was nothing but fun and rock 'n’ roll! Antillectual was a fact. All of them decided Willem became the lead vocalist, so from then on he did all the wining and complaining on tha mic.
After messing around with self-made demos we decided to record a real professional one. During the first weekend of November 2001 we recorded ‘Penetrating the industry’, a 5song CD/EP at the JacobibergStudio in Arnhem. This was the last time Pieter played bass for us. He was too busy singing in his other band, Last to go. Pretty soon we found a new bass player, Falco, who we thought all of our songs. And from that moment we started to play shows again to promote our new CD/EP.
