    Artist History
My first beginnings in music were in the car driving place to place with my mom. She had cassette tapes of the Beatle's Abbey Road and Rubber Soul, and we used to sing our hearts out. We picked out the melodies and took different parts (oh what fun!). That is most likely where I learned how to sing. The second musical milestone in my life was taking up piano. I had a neighbor girl that I almost had a crush on (when I was six :) ) and I found out she played piano. I quickly asked my parents for piano lessons. The first year was pretty aweful. I had a small janky mini-keyboard we had borrowed from my uncle. But later my parents bought me a very nice, full sized electronic keyboard, which I still have and use today. I used that for a while, until we finally upgraded to a used upright that friends of my father's were willing to sell to us for cheap. Lucky me! Five or six years passed with just piano and song. I was beginning to write music, but only very simple songs that were never finished. I loved poetry though, and I wrote it a lot. In my 6th grade year, however, I decided that I wanted to play the GEETAH. My parents were hesitant at first, so they bought me an acoustic (they weren't fans of noise). I immediately learned some simple chords and began writing music. The songs were simple, but they were also quite good and I have recorded some of them in my later years. After a year of improvement, my parents saw that I dearly loved the guitar and decided to buy me an electric. Oh boy, what fun! My writing style began to develop into a more "electric guitar friendly" style. During the summer after seventh grade a friend (Tim Saler) and I wrote a lot of goofy material. We thought it was the best stuff on Earth, and it almost was (almost... due to the poor recording quality of our songs and the messiness of our playing). We kept on writing and writing, the songs got better and better as the year progressed. Tim took up guitar and started writing music. We were a modern Simon and Garfunkle, I tell you! Later, we got a drummer friend to be in a band with us called Kronotek. Sadly, the drummer friend of ours never showed up for any of the practices and he was "phased out" of the band. The name "Kronotek" remained attached to Tim and me until we had a major conflict. I quit the band and refused to let Tim come over to my house or go over to his house. I forgot what the fight was about... maybe Tim knows.. ask him. Anyway, a period of a month or two passed and I felt like I was wrong to restrict my relationship with Tim. So he and I got back together and formed a new band, "Neurosonic". This time our drummer (Brett Gage) was ready to commit to the band, and we recorded several songs (listen to them and more at http://www.mp3.com/Neurosonic). But then horrible news struck, Tim had to move out of state to New Jersey. This was very hard for me, because although he and I had many fights, he was still my best friend and I hated to lose him. So we decided that we'd write music over the web. Currently, the long distance writing idea has not been at all successful, but we send songs to eachother that we've written. Tim has especially written a lot of material and I recommend you check some of his stuff out on mp3.com. In recent years I've gotten some new musical toys to play with and I have gained more musical influences. I got an analog synthesizer, which is good fun. I got a drum machine, which helps a great deal in making my songs more refined. And recently I got a theremin, which will be appearing on several songs in the future. Also, I am in a band called "the Asian Gang" (this is not a racial slur, all the members of the band are Asian and it is a very stupid inside joke between us). We have written an EP's worth of songs thus far and intend to keep at it for as long as we can. Sadly, our drummer (Gene Kim) refuses to play live, so there will be no concerts in the near future. Additionaly to the Asian Gang, I started releasing compilation discs for my "record company" (the company is based off my 4-track recorder). Some of my music, as well as the Asian Gang's is featured. You can hear the music on the "Red Rocket Studio Sampler" at http://www.mp3.com/RedRocketStudio. It's very fun. Have a nice day!
