Artist History influenced in youth by growing up to such bands as New Order, The Cure, Echo and the Bunnymen, The Jesus and Mary Chain and 10,000 Maniacs, Erica Gutierrez captures certain aspects of the human experience through songwriting, lyrical persuasion and varied vocal techniques. Erica started playing the guitar at age 19 but taught herself to play the piano at age 13 by listening to music videos to bands like U2 and The Cure. After the alternative scene made a comfortable place in the United States by the mid 1990s, and eventually creeping its way into a category all its own, Erica fell eager to learn guitar when she was encouraged and self-taught by friends. Chris started recording & playing the guitar as early as age 14 and has recorded several home recordings in which he plays all instruments, similar to that of sparklehorse and Pete Yorn. Both Chris and Erica grew up together sharing the same musical interests with equally drawn musical influences. These home recordings are the first steps of an artists' vision, falling into place,,,one that "reflects and captures the depths-- light and dark--of the human soul."
