Artist description
"Jackhammer Jesus" is the brainchild of 23 year old Welsh-born singer/songwriter, Gardavian Lowe.
The only son of Maggie and Owain Lowe, both of
whom were musicians and owners of "Lowe's Fish n' Chips" in the lovely
sea-side town of Cardigan. Young Gardavian grew up in a world full of music
and song. He would accompany his parents every third Saturday night where
they would perform at "The Leisure Centre" down by the beach. "I was very
young and didn't understand all the drunkeness and debauchery that
occurred, but I understood the power of music. My folks could have the
place just goin' wild, and then do a beautiful ballad, and you could hear a
pin drop. I knew that's what I wanted to do someday."
After moving to the States in May of 1995 Gardavian found himself in a
completely different world. "The Radio here is completely different from
radio back home. Artists come and go fairly quick in Wales, save for the
few exceptions like "The Alarm", "Badfinger", "Stereophonics" and old
grandad himself, Tom Jones. In the States you seem to latch on to your
bands and never let go". Fascinated by all the attitude on the airways
Gardavian began to write. Because of his upbringing he has always felt most
at home with one ear on Pop, the other on Traditional folk, for its story
telling.
"I first heard Kid Rock on a cassette my friend Tina had let me borrow. I
really wasn't sure how to take him but I loved his down-home attitude and
his nod to old time rock stardom. I became a fan, but not a student."
"Silicone Icon" is the first recording for what Gardavian hopes will be his
first full length release. With a little help from some of his friends, he
has formed "Jackhammer Jesus". "I'm just goin' to let the music take me
where it will. I don't want to worry about my niche or my look. I still
have a lot to learn and am not in a big hurry."
"Jackhammer Jesus" will continue to record in the new year. Drop the guys a
line. |
