Artist History Cristina Myers, 15 years old, has always enjoyed singing. She was born in Florida and has lived in Spain, Portugal, Scotland, and has been in Maryland now for six years. Living, attending local schools, and going to local festivals overseas has exposed her to many types of music. Her influences range from 70's disco, folk, modern rock and pop, R&B, Hip Hop and Rap. At 10, she joined the chorus at St. Nicholas Church in Laurel, MD where she impressed people over with her vocal range. A few years ago while spending the summer in Spain, she was singing in the street for her friends when people began to appear on their apartment balconies to listen. After her impromptu performance, the people began to throw coins down to the street. Cristina and her friends used the money to buy ice cream and go to the movies. She is cool under pressure. Just before her solo at her 8th grade's concert night, the sound system failed. She was singing at floor level at the front of a packed audience when the chorus director came up behind her, and guided her to the middle of the audience so all could hear her. Cristina kept on singing and did not miss a note. Last fall, starting late at a new High School, her chorus teacher didn't want to single her out on her first day by asking her to sing solo for the class. Seeing she wouldn't be called on, this not-shy-at-all gal asked if she could do a solo. That not only got her into the Freshman chorus, but she was invited to sing with the seniors as well. She is slated to become the Concert Choir's senior soprano for her Sophomore year. She began recording cover and original songs in September of 2001 in a friends studio. She is now beginning to record professionally written and produced songs. Shake My Thang is her first. Shake My Thang was submitted and accepted for Uplifting Minds II, a talent showcase held in Baltimore on April 14th 2002. She performed Thang with four backup dancers and put on quite a show. She is currently working on her second song. Cristina is interested in singing the National Anthem at local events and sporting venues.
