    Artist description
The Creature Comforts, a Lawrence, Kansas based four piece pop band, are dressed up and messed up and ready to spread their fiery brand of self described "Prairie Rock" across the rock and roll map. Formed in 1997, The Creature Comforts is made up of Chris Tolle, formerly of Action Man, on guitar and vocals, Brian Everard on bass, J.D. Warnock on guitar/keyboards, and Bill Brimblecom Jr. on drums. From the hands of producer Ed Rose (Tenderloin, Paw, Ultimate Fakebook), the band has created a powerful anthem-full pop album packed with earnest songwriting, memorable melodies, and solid guitar riffs recalling the post-punk sound that helped fuel the late 1980's and early 1990's rock explosion. Already the CD has been praised by Pitch Weekly and its readers as the Album Of The Year and the lead track was selected as the Song Of The Year. The band was also named Band Of The Year at this year's Kansas City Music Awards (Klammies). The Politics Of Pop, their debut CD on Noisome Records, showcases potent pop numbers like the lead track "Sentimental Bliss," the title track "The Politics Of Pop," the gentle then crashing heartfelt "Save Our Ship," and the sassy "Charmed I'm Sure." Tolle's fervent songwriting led to each tune having its own personality and melodic direction. The band prefers to write pop songs where the riffs are implied and to reserve the good ones for just enough hook to keep the fans wanting more. Their No. 1 rule: Never beat someone over the head with a good lick because the charm wears off quickly. Their instinct for writing catchy pop tunes, sporting modern fashion, and generating a high octane rock and roll show has made them a favorite live band in the Midwest. Already the band has played with national acts like Everclear, Dinosaur Jr., Fastball, and Mudhoney. The Creature Comforts plan to continue their spread of charming power pop and passionate songwriting with a constant barrage of touring and by turning people on to the "Prairie Rock" sounds of The Politics Of Pop.

    Press Reviews
"The Poltiics Of Pop, is as solid a debut as you're likely to find this year. It contains all the essential elements of any major label Pop band that experienced success in '98." - FMQB, October 30, 1998 "Hailing from the alternative rock hotbed of middle America comes the blissful pop/rock sound of The Creature Comforts. The trio's debut effort, The Politics Of Pop, offers a fine selection of tunage, with "Sentimental Bliss", "Save Our Ship", "Too Cool For Words", "On Hold For The Holidays", and "Charmed I'm Sure" being particularly tasty." - The Album Network, October 21, 1998 "On an album full of airplay-attractive tunes...The Politics Of Pop offers a pleasing example of why "pop" doesn't have to be a dirty word. ...catchy hooks and clever lyrics...the band plays full throttle, as on the energetic "Sincerely Me" and the punky "Charmed, I'm Sure"..." - Pitch Weekly, October 1, 1998 "Politics is a dandy debut, a rampage of melodic post-punk guitar tunes, including a few radio-made gems...(The Creature Comforts)...have put together a record that tastes like the juice of that moment when punk was on the cusp of new wave and bands knew how to rant, rage and charm all at the same time." - The Kansas City Star, October 1998
