    Artist description
New jazz for a new era, fusing traditional instruments with the new digital age technology combining a very powerful rhythm section with The Awakening Horns, producing a chemistry which transports you instantaneously, on the first note, right out of your body.
    Music Style
My music is the culmination of almost 30 years of playing everything from R&B, soul, power trio rock, fusion, baroque, acid jazz, triphop, bebop, trance, drum and bass and world traditional music.
    Musical Influences
I listen to all music styles. I go out of my way to find true ethnic music around the world, as well as popular music, and not so popular music because every sound in the universe is saying something to me, like sign posts in the road, guiding me on my sacred journey.

I have a new sound. There's nothing that sounds like my music because I'm not trying to sound like anybody else. My melodies dictate their accompanyment, and I have a palette full of my arrangements.
    Artist History
I have been performing as an electric bassist since 1965. I've played in all kinds of bars and after hours joints, playing R&B, soul, everyting from Elvis Presley, James Brown, to the Bee Gees, hits of the day. In the 70's I played power trio hard rock for crowds as large as 100,000 people and as a headliner in New York City with Kongress, later known as Shanghai Sideshow. At this time I got into engineering and production work, doing session work, then I built my fretless. I would go to auditions and jam sessions all over town, wherever I could plug in and play until the wee hours. One day I was walking in the Bowery, heading home from a jam. Walking by a basketball court I saw out of the corner of my eye someone I thought I recognized. Jaco Pastorius was sitting under a tree with a basketball clutched under his stomach. I introduced myself, said I was a bass player too, and I gave him my number, never expecting to hear from him again. This happened on a Wednesday afternoon. Friday night I got a call from Jaco. He jumped in a cab and crossed the bridge to meet me at a studio. I kept in touch with Jaco over the last two and a half years of his life, from that Wednesday afternoon. It was Jaco who urged me to get a band together and get my sound out. He really liked my stuff. He liked my basses. From that that point on I played with many combinations of musicians, and finally I came up with the right combination and chemistry, that transports the sound in my head to the stage or recording. This combination, The Awakening, as is, The Awakening Horns, combined with The Awakening rhythm section, is the closest you'll ever get to hearing and seeing what's in my mind. You can feel my intent, you can feel my passion, you can feel my joy, you can feel my sorrow. I always give the most positive outpouring, because the sound comes first. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction, true sonic alchemy.
