Artist History
After years as a solo coffee house folk singer/songwriter,topher gave up the coffee for the clubs. In early 1998 topherjoined up with Anthony Sabastian (Bass), Mr SQ (guitar)and John 'trigger' Colwell (drums) to form Studguppy.Although keeping with his folk roots on some of the songstopher plugged in and added a lot of punk influences to hismusic to fit in with the local Honolulu Punk scene. Afterluke warm reviews of their first show, the group went back tothe drawing board and did what they did best, alternativepop rock songs. The new style was their style and thesongs started cranking out. As the sets got bigger theshows came more often. In May of 1999 they recorded atwo song demo CD that they sold to people at there shows.The summer of 1999 proved to be an important one. Itstarted off with a slot in the Mini Mele Festival. The showscontinued to flow with a 4th of July show for Crater 98 (a local hawaiian radio station, and numerious shows at AnnaBananas. The Summer was topped off by a September tripto Virgina were they opened for the World Classic Rocker.In October of 1999 the guppies began and continue layingdown tracks for a soon to be released CD titled 'Afraid ofLosing Apathy'. |
