Artist description
Scooter Rock (pictured on the right) is a multi-instrumentalist alternative hiphop junkie that to date has done very well for himself, considering he was homeless living out of his car for a period of time in 2000, and that everything up to this point was recorded in his bedroom with a sampler...and some funk guitar...think music, think funk, think old school hiphop, fuck all the boy bands, fuck the diseased cesspool of bullshit excuse for alternative and hiphop music that the labels promote (why are so many idiots buying it? Do they really like it, or is it because theres nothin else to choose from?), and yes, fuck all the teen pop princesses. Make some funky music, make the people get up and dance, that's what it's all about. And getting a song that you really believe in on modern radio. |

Artist History
Scooter Rock is based in Los Angeles, having relocated from Nashville to form a kick ass band on the West Coast. He played in punk-metal bands in the early 90s and then helped to form a hardcore/funk rap band called Soul Cracker in '96. When musical disagreements caused the band to split in '97, Scooter Rock did what pissed off artists do- he put together his own studio and recorded a solo project. In fall of 1999, a cut from his self-produced EP, Funk For A Dead Generation, received airplay at a major alternative station, WZPC in Nashville (102.9 The Buzz). The song, called "Jam," is still a favorite among the DJs there and they are always using it for bed music and station IDs. In Dec. 2000, the song also came out on a Vitaminic compilation sponsored by Webraider in Italy- 10,000 copies have been distributed. An old school funk/rap track, "Girls and Money", was recorded in summer 2000 with help from DJ Velvet (on the left in the picture). Scooter Rock has now formed a new band in the LA area called Rhyme Junkies, and they are currently playing gigs and getting some exposure. They be playin the rap shit live, changin up styles, know what Im sayin? Two or more MCs throwin rhymes back and forth, back and forth, and singin over that. They be gonna connect to that radio before they get too fuckin old. |
