Artist History
POPSTAR is credited with opening for national touring artists such as Joydrop (Tommy Boy), and Self (Dreamworks). POPSTAR has won first prize for DC101's Battle of the Bands, as well as a similar competition put on by Mars, the musicians planet. In addition, POPSTAR has gained recognition in The Baltimore City Paper's annual - "Best local single award". POPSTAR has recently been asked to play MP3.com's "Music & Technology Tour" with the Goo Goo Dolls as Headliners in 1999. ----------On a grassroots level, POPSTAR continued to tour the mid-Atlantic, playing various festivals and venues while acquiring many outstanding reviews in local and regional magazines.----------POPSTAR also held the web as an important medium to reach potential fans all over the world. This is reflected by their excellent charting status on local, state and regional charts for MP3.com. Such striving and achievement is reflected in the constant growth of fans, and the professionalism of POPSTAR as a marketing entity.----------Reid Whitney, Jeff Bradshaw, & Steve Kilgallon all had successful musical endeavors prior to the birth of POPSTAR. Jeff & Steve had both been performing and recording in a local project called "Xenon Scream." Reid Whitney was actively involved with a very popular band in the early 90's called "The Wanting Seed." By 1995 they joined together as "Week of Sundays." After some time they grew apart from the music they were creating and the members decided to choose other avenues to explore. ----------Reid and Jeff hired a session drummer while Steve took some time off to pursue other interests and study further in his drumming. During this time, Steve connected with (former Once Hush Guitarist) Greg White and asked Greg for his involvement in recording Steve's solo material. After some time, Reid, Jeff, and Steve decided to try it again. All the "Week Of Sundays" songs were trashed and they agreed to a fresh start. POPSTAR was born! |

Press Reviews
"Alive, Entertaining, Tight! Go see the show" -Kevin Kash DC101 "Pop Star make well-produced, radio-friendly Power-Pop with infectious melodies, tricky drum accents, and lush vocal harmonies. Slide guitar and feedback add texture, swooping and diving in and out of the dominant melody line." - Listen.com |
