Artist History
Monkey's With Handguns was born in the spring of 1997 by guitarist/vocalist Jeff W. After a short stint in LA and the end of a rocky relationship Jeff wanted to persue a project that he had formulated while on the West Coast. Enlisting the drumming and programming talents of long time friend and former band mate Jay Sin,the two began to collaborate and were extremely happy with the results. Wanting to persue the project further they enlisted another former band mate from the past, Paul B.to round out on keys, additional sequencing and sampling. All three members carry a variety of different musical influences under their belt which lends to the never ending expansion of their imagination. |

Press Reviews
"Monkeys With Handguns are four angry boys from Illinois who sound like Nine Inch Nails' more accessible work. Crunchy guitars, punchy drums, screaming and lots of synth noise." - E. Lurker, Listen.com"When I first looked at the cover of Monkeys With Handguns' self-titled tape, I became entranced with the shade of deep green they used throughout the design. It made me think of good marijuana, or maybe aliens. Something peaceful like that, even with the guns and monkey references. But really, it sounds like Nine Inch Nails crossed with early Nirvana on metal night. Raucous and wild, chunky and dirging, yet free and lithe, however troubled and pissed."- Matt Sonzala,The Illinois Entertainer |
