Artist History
The Michelle Morand Band arose from a songwriting partnership between Michelle and Guitar Player, Tom Stevenson. The two played numerous shows as a duo act in 1997 and 1998 and recorded a 9 song demo in Tom's home recording studio. In February of 1998, Michelle and Tom decided the time was right to record a CD for the purpose of providing their fans with a great sounding and great looking piece of art. For this purpose they solicited the aid of Drummer, Mike Andreosso, Bass Player, Jeff Layher, and Keyboardist, Ivan Elieff. All seasoned musicians and great people, these new additions gave Michelle and Tom the musical support required to produce Universal Tattoo, a CD that far exceeded their expectations. |

ATTRACTIONS ARTS AND ENTERTAINMENT MAGAZINE: APRIL 1999 - This is great listening music for that windy rainy night, fireplace burning and a candle lit room. Her soft and clear voice reminds one of Enya’s haunting melodies and Sarah MacLachlan’s warm tones. The spacious guitar styling of Tom Stevenson mixes perfectly with Michelle’s vocals to create an airy yet full sound that entices the listener to stop and take notice.

VICTORIA TIMES COLONIST: TUESDAY, APRIL 6, 1999 - With a voice that’s both powerful and engaging, local chanteuse Michelle Morand stands tall on her debut album. It has a list of positive aspects – nice production, crafty musicianship, some catchy songwriting – but none come close to matching the attributes of Morand’s voice. She has been in the background of the local scene until recently but as fans who catch her performance at Vertigo on April 9 will attest, she’s deserved to be at the front the whole time.

CITY SCENE MAGAZINE: MAY 14, 1999 - One of the coolest and most ingenious jackets I have ever seen.
