Press Reviews
In the spring of 1999, FlooDBaR came about, quite by accident, by two drunk fuckers with pretty much nothing else to do and a Friday to kill..and through positive feedback we decided to try and mature musically a little bit and come up with some material. Dominic Sobieralski wrote all of the Lyrics and came up with the drum beats via ReBirth-338, while Brenden Jumps laid down the Guitar Tracks care of Gibson and Fender.. We soon came to a realization after putting out our first demo, titled SubStandard v1.01, that we needed a human drummer for live shows. We incorporated on Dan Vance. He has two turntables and just bought a phat ass keyboard. So, this little trio of musicians were lost without a percussionist We searched long and hard and none could be found, so we went ahead and produced and distributed the second revision of our demo, now entitled "Simulated Process-CD MIX". It went this way for awhile, using Rebirth-338 and a Yamaha Drum Kit that was mic'ed through a mixer and straight into Cakewalk... In the fall of 1999 we ran into an acquaintance of mine, one Ronnie Youngs. We were determined to keep our Hip Hop/Rap sounds, while incorporating some of the Punk/Hardcore elements that we grew up listening to. After much persuasion, we recruited Ronnie and embarked on a quest to start him out on some Good Ol' punk covers... So in early September we started practicing for a show that was already booked for the 22nd of October at The Chain O' Lakes Conservation Club.... So with two practices a week and 6 weeks to get ready for it, we came to know, love and hate these songs.... Two Tuesdays after our Halloween show Ronnie, our drummer, decides he doesn't want to play the songs any more and he would rather play some Glam-Rock. With Two weeks left until the show I called in a favor and got one Kenneth "Barry"Gay to play with us. Barry, being a long time percussionist and hailing from the same town as us, was playing with another group but agreed to try out for us and see if he liked it enough to do a show. Well, lets just say we were all pleased by the end of the first practice. Also, we have a second guitarist, Dave Gay, to play with us now So with 3 practices under our belt and two more scheduled for this week, we are going to try and embark on doing this show and doing it well. We also Incorporated Dave Gay to play his wondrous guitar parts for pur songs, and before we knew it we had a sh*tload of new tunes Other than that we are currently working on more original tunes... and continue to play covers, because to many people these are not covers because seldom appreciate the Old Skool Punk songs and you would be surprised at the reaction we get when they are played.... We are currently rehearsing for a show on the 20th Of November and are currently looking for venues to play at in the Quad State Area.. Being as we are from Mishawaka, Indiana ( I know, You are saying Mish-a-what.. so I will make it simple... Where Notre Dame is "Fighting Irish") we are interested in playing venues in the Chicago, Indianapolis, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Ft. Wayne, and Springfield area ( IN,IL,OH,MI) But are willing to travel a little bit more if we can get booked either 2 nights or 2 venues in the same area. |
