Artist History
Astral Project officially began in 1994 with Gabriel Chapman and Nathan Dawson. We appreciate all sorts of electronic music. There is something magical in the sound of electric oscillators creating waves that combine to form any sound imaginable (or unimaginable). Though we are fond of ambient, drum n bass, house, rap, trip hop, jungle, and such, we find the most bliss in making breakbeat trance. Being from Orlando has infected us with the funk, and there simply is no cure. But still, the harmonies and progressions and layered thickness of good trance is awe inspiring. Freaky tweaks and noises that come together to tell an epic story, and your brain drives the narrative. Achieving a harmonious fusion of these elements is what drives us to make music. |

Press Reviews
...hailing from O-town, Astral Project (aka Gabriel Chapman) is not a DJ, but a producer. Astral Project's live shows helped to forge the way to the breakz scene in Orlando, but added that extra trance edge. Expect thick basses, which surge with psychedelic blips and beeps to plummet you into funky, yet otherworldy stunning grooves. He has marketed himself heavily online and others have taken notice. His label Dip'nTrippy offers his 12" limited vinyl for the DJs in the crowd. And his track "Temporal Flux" is also our featured mp3 for this week. - About.com |
