Artist History
The date of Steve Stewart-Williams' birth is
unknown, and the circumstances of most of his
life are shrouded in mystery. What IS known is
that, waking up one morning with an album's worth
of songs resting gently in his mind, yet no way to
get them to a wider audience, Steve gave up
drinking (and other substantial activities) to
fund his debut album. This album (entitled "Dreams
of Beauty and Pain") was released in 1999, to
thunderous applause. Here is an example of the
kind of impact this album has been having. One
person, on hearing it, quit his high-paying job
in order to pursue his dream of becoming a
musician. He has since released his own
self-funded debut album. |

Group Members
VOCALS: Steve Stewart-Williams is bigger than
Jesus, and even bigger than the Beatles. (Steve
is a mighty six foot six.)
GUITARS: Stephen Jolyon Pakenham Stewart-Williams.
While in Liverpool recently, Stephen played lead
guitar with a band that played with the Beatles.
DRUMS: SJP Stewart-Williams. Most rock n roll
moment: SJP got married wearing leather trousers.
This almost makes up for the fact that his role
was really just pushing the "go" button on the
drum machine.
BASS: Stevie Stu, AKA the pop/rock psychologist.
Twas Stevie Stu who decided to use the name
Anonymous. The idea was that the album, Dreams of
Beauty and Pain, would be a completely anonymous
release. There would be no photos of him, and not
even his name would be used. Stevie Stu wanted to
avoid the distasteful pursuit of fame and status.
However, since then he has changed his mind, and
wants all the glory he can possibly get. Says
Stevie Stu (in press): "I finally got in touch
with my shallow side, which I had been repressing
for so long."
KEYBOARDS: Big Steve. Hobbies: philosophy and
food. As there are only a few songs featuring
keyboards, Big Steve has had enough free time to
discover the meaning of life. "Life is
meaningless", he argues, "but it can still be good
for a laugh." |
