Artist History
SiX
Formed in the summer of 2001,the members of SiX saw a huge gap in the heavy music genre and wanted to fill it in their own creative way.
"Things have gotten so stale and manufactured for the fans" points out SiX frontman LAUREN "it just seems as if no one is really trying to "create" anything new anymore, just trying to copy each other..we aren't into that"
This frustration with modern music forced this SoCal foursome into writing, producing & releasing their debut Ep "When the Beauty's Gone", on their own label (1605 Records) and hitting the road."We figured if we just got to work, our goal would become clear. The idea of waiting around for our career to begin just wasn't appealing" adds guitarist Alfunction "There's too many things we want to do"
These two should know about having things to do, having lived a first hand crash course in the music biz. LAUREN, once the vocalist of the now defunct Drown, and Alfunction, touring the world as guitarist for both Cypress Hill and OPM, these two put all of their experience into what they feel is the next level of heavy music and created SiX. Joining forces with the extreme talents of both bassist/guitarist Bob K, & drummer Rob Woods, SiX hit the road throughout 2002 with a fury and a focus out to rule the world.
Touring with heavyweights such as Clutch,Gwar,Bloodlet,Dope & SX10, SiX were even asked to join Jager buds I.R.A.T.E on a westcoast Jager Club Tour, and to join some of Jagermeister's "Jagermusic Tour" with Coal Chamber/ ill Nino (2002) and (Hed Pe/Saliva 2003) for opening dates around the country.
"Jagermeister has been very good to us...what can I say?" laughs vocalist LAUREN
Rick Zeiler Jager's marketing king adds in "No one works harder than these guys...no one"
Comanding the live arena like seasoned pros, SiX makes the power of a live show quite clear.
"I grew up on metal and not this silly "nu metal", I want SiX to stay away from any goofy trend and just go out there and rock."We write music, we tour, and we win over fans everywhere...that's what we do and that's what I'm talkin' about, keeping our roots in our hearts and keeping the future in our eyes" proclaims drummer Rob Woods.
2003 sees the band finalizing and releasing their debut full length "The Price Of Faith" and then it's back on the road.
Once again pushing the creative envelope, SiX deliver crossover tracks "Everything" and "We All Lie" to show influences from eveything from Metallica and U2 to David Bowie and AC/DC.
When asked about the future with labels and managers guitarist/bassist Bob K puts it bluntly "We have been able to do a ton of work ourselves but if the right people came along and could see and enhance our vision, we are not against letting others into our plan"
It's evident by the intensity this band carries, SiX is not here to be as part of your trends..they are here to change them.
See you on the road
