Artist History
Born on February 17, 1976 and sharing his birthday with fellow geniuses Michael Jordan, Lou Diamond Phillips, and retail mogul Montgomery Ward, it is not difficult to recognize why Harry Shaffer has captured the imagination of literally dozens of people around the world. Harry was recognized as one of the forefathers of modern ballet choreography at the age of seven by creating the now famous Trout, Snapper, and Flounder styles of movements, and later became known as the innovator of the "Frying Bacon" style of dance. Leaving dance behind at the age of ten, Harry quickly picked up music and mastered such instruments as the sitar, didgeridoo, harmonica, bass guitar, tabla, pennywhistle, violin, piano, bodhran, doumbek, congas, as well as Tuvian throat singing. Temporarily leaving music in 1989 to study at a Buddhist monastery, Harry became fascinated with modern physics and often incorporated these ideas into his lucrative career as in-house forensic pathologist for the Shao Lin Monastery. Making his return to the United States after writing his best selling book Mind Over Spleen, Harry recorded his first album with the London Symphony Orchestra, The Jew's Harp is not a Toy. Harry is currently breaking down the walls of modern music with his computer generated solo efforts, Yurei Kurage and The Control Group. A short review of his work is currently available on the release greatestnumberonehitsofthisweek, along with some new material. Harry is currently recording an ambient Halloween album entitled Monsters, and is working on an experimental death metal band that is currently getting ideas together for a 2002 release. There are no current plans on touring. |
