Press Reviews
Authority Abuse "S/T" 7" Lengua Armada Discos File this one under, "So hardcore you'll stick your face in a wood chipper." I guess, since this is a self-titled release, that this is the band's first effort. Let's just say they hit the nail right on the head. Authority Abuse, from Illinois, sounds quite similar to the hardcore that came out of the mid-west in the early 1980s, such as Negative Approach, The Fix and The State. The barking vocals just barely break through the three chord guitar growl and relentless drumming. Raw and tough production that sounds almost like a live gig. There's just loads of energy in this vinyl. Seems like this early 1980s HC sound is making a big comeback in the last year or two. Bands like Dead Nation, Cops and Robbers, Out Cold and Authority Abuse are keeping it real. Glad to see that there are youngsters who know what true hardcore is! Bob Suren |
