Artist History 40 Grit is known worldwide for churning out thunderous songs. The group of four has grown such a reputation for their flawless, invigorating live performances that they have shared stages with heavy hitters such as Soil, Machine Head, Nothing Face, Meshuggah, Testament, Skinlab, and Soulfly. The band has also embarked on very successful European tours with the likes of Pro-Pain and S.O.D. Press Reviews Recently released on Metal Blade Records is this disc which will undoubtedly prove to be 40 Grit's ground breaker as they pull together the best of their material thus far and create "Heads", a disc with enough power, melody and riffing to create one of the strongest discs to hit the NorCal Underground and National Scene. 40 Grit has come a long way with this debut major label release providing a strong insight into what the talent of guitarist Chris Anderson, guitarist / vocalist James Santiago, drummer Mike Bennett and bassist Kevin Young holds now and in the future. Opening with the insanely catchy, heavy driven riff of "Ground Zero" and moving through a disc full of strong course work, "Heads" will no doubt raise a few eyebrows and bring more attention to this band. One of their strongest tunes on this platter is the third track "Sneaky Glass Face" with its heavy tumbling opening riff and rolling overall feel. Other notables on this effort include the eighth track "Three Spaces" with its clean vocally dominated space and straight ahead feel. This disc really has no one single strongest point as all of the parts are equally strong to come together into one giant effort as this East Bay band is ready to take their turn in the National Spotlight as another successful product from the NorCal Underground.
