    Artist description
On The Three is an introspective kick in the head. But aren't all bands these days? The songs are based on the unpredictable nature of relationships and how they shape us as people.
    Music Style
    Hard Rock
    Musical Influences
King Crimson, Tool, Living Colour, Dream Theater, Primus, Various Jazz Artists, etc.
    Similar Artists
We've been compared to everything from Black Sabbath to Tool. As the years go on, it gets more difficult for us to hear the influences. We like to think of our sound as unique, but familiar.
    Artist History
On The Three was formed in the basement of 27 Harvest Street, Lynn MA in the spring of 1996 by Ben Luz, Evan Deane and Jon Luz. Completely by accident. After one initial jam, the basis of two songs were written for a 4 piece band of guitar, bass, drums and saxophone. The saxophone never appeared for the second practice. He neither quit nor was kicked out of the band. So, Dan, if you're still out there, come to practice, ok? After 3 and a half years of service, bass player Evan left the band following the release of the self titled debut that saw 100 copies. On The Three was then completed by Shaun Hanson, former bass player of Audible Crayons, who Jon had previously worked with. Now, On The Three is getting ready to release their second full length CD, tentatively titled "A Proper Gander" in early 2002.

    Press Reviews
"This roaring power trio came out of the starting gate like a thoroughbred possessed. Inflicting instant carnage with blistering guitar riffs and a superheated rhythm section, On The Three took control from their opening notes. Hearkening back to the dawning of the metal age, singer-guitarist Ben Luz, bassist Evan Deane and drummer Jon Luz have learned their lessons well from the masters, Black Sabbath and have put a nineties edge to their influence. Excellent musicianship from a young outfit of rising stars." -Douglas Sloan (Metronome Magazine) "... music that's aggressive, melodic and high energy." Yup - sez so in the enclosed info sheet. We've got guitar, bass, and drums bashing out R&R with vocals [flangy/phassey vocals on "Leverage"]. Effervescent looking bunch; got a photo on the back of the CD and the good news is they're from Lynn, Mass. [What's so good news about that L.A.?] Dunno. But "Chaos" grinds out nicely. It's got one hell of a long intro, but that can work well live. Couple two tree nice little riffs sprinkled about on "Aliens Stole My Alcohol" and that's a nifty song title as well. And hey look at this. They've got a song with "Joe" in the title. It's called "Old To Joe " and it starts off with a medium tempo drum beat, then the guitar and bass join in and it kind of stinks until they chomp into this twisted riff that kills [love the bass]." -L.A.
