Artist History
"After many years of singing other people's music, I finally fo8nd somehting new in me, and I began to write my own songs about my own life and feelings," says Joannah McKee. "Sometimes it's uncomfortable to reveal your heart that way, but it feels good when people respond to your music positively."
Indeed, the Southern California native could once be heard covering Joni Mitchell, Mary Chapin Carpenter and other folk and country artists in Orange County coffeehouses. Those influences are easily heard in her voice and the songs on her first CD "I Remeber", which is currently receiving radio airtime in Western Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. And McKee has graduated from the coffeehouse circuit to opening for national acts such as Blake Shelton, Ricochet, and The Bellamy Brothers.
Collaborating with her long-time performing partner, guitarist Brian Palmer, McKee has recorded a mix of country styles that Palmer terms "California Country." Thoughtful lyrics and memorable melodies highlight the collection. Whether it's the Dixie Chicks sounding "I Know", the swampy feeling "Yellow Moon", or the tender "Walk With Me", McKee and Palmer have penned honest and interesting songs for their listeners' enjoyment. |
