Artist History
One Perfect Crime was born somewhere around the time of May or June of 2000. Two prominant and established (well not really) Olde York Bands, The Scam and The Excessives, were on the verge of breaking up. The four members of The Excessives (Shaun, Pat, Tyler, and Barry) had decided to innoculate themselves with a second guitarist and called upon Sir Randy Simon of The Scam to do it. Things got off to a bit of a rocky start, but were soon smoothed over and working like a well lubed butthole, err..machine. Soon after this The Scam decided to call it quits. They had been together for roughly five years, which is pretty impressive for a York band. The Band began writting all new songs, thus abandoning old Excessives favorites such as "Impotent Goat", "Old People", and "Ode to Slut". It was perhaps for the better to see these old songs go, though it saddened us all. It was also around this time that we decided a new name for the band was in order. We considered names like J Factor and Vivisick, and finally settled on One Perfect Crime. The name was taken from an old Reservoir Dogs ad that read: "Four Complete Strangers, One Perfect Crime, How could anything possibly go wrong?" Also leaving with the old name and old songs was Barry. It seems he had decided to concentrate fully on his other band, Violation. We supported his decision, and begun thinking about who would be the next guitarist. After much thought and consideration it was decided that One Perfect Crime would remain a four piece for the time being. Fueled by the new name and the new energetic songs, the band staggard onward in a drunken stupor. In November of 2000, OPC went to Monster Island Studios in DC to record an EP (rhymes galore huh?). Ken Olden of Better Than 1000, Battery, and Damnation AD was our master engineer behind the mixing board. It was 2 days of pulling out hair and eating at the famous Ben's Chili Bowl, which was only 2 blocks from the studio. They had the best vegitarian chili ever. In between eating bowls of the delicious chili, we somehow managed to record five songs. Four of these songs appear on the independently released "Angst For the Memories" CD-EP. Hmmm I guess that is about all we got in our brief history so far. Not very impressive huh? Didn't think so... |
