Artist History
KIMBERLYE GOLD
San Francisco native singer/songwriter Kimberlye Gold has been pursuing her dream and perfecting her craft since birth (her mother had her birth announcement printed as a theater ticket " ‘IT’S A GIRL" starring…") and is no stranger to the stages and recording studios of San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, Nashville and London. Beginning with the award winning San Francisco rock ’n roll musical comedy, BREAKFAST IN MARIN, starring as "Sunny" when she was still a teenager, (audience members included HUEY LEWIS and MARTY BALIN from The JEFFERSON STARSHIP), Kimberlye has written/recorded and/or performed music in all these locations with songwriters as diverse as Frank Wildhorn (writer of the smash Broadway musical JECKYL & HYDE), Trevor Gale (VANESSA WILLIAMS, "Runnin’ To You"), Kostas (DIXIE CHICKS "I Can Love You Better Than That"), John Bettis (THE CARPENTERS "Top Of The World", WHITNEY HOUSTON "One Moment In Time", MADONNA "Crazy For You") Michael Garvin (JENNIFER LOPEZ "Waiting For Tonight" and Holly Lamar (FAITH HILL "Breathe") the last of with whom she had an album cut, "Don’t Maybe Me" on Atlantic Records country recording artist MILA MASON’s CD "THE STRONG ONE". Kimberlye is one breath away from getting one of her many songs (co-written with these wildly successful songwriters) cut by some wildly successful artist or in some giant hit movie or TV show. Her song, "What’s In A Name", co-written with Johnny Douglas, will be in the upcoming film, "THANK YOU GOODNIGHT!", starring Mark Hamill and Sally Kellerman, "One More Reason", co-written with David Gregoli was featured in the film "A TIME TO DIE", starring Traci Lords, Richard Roundtree and Jeff Conaway, her song "Countdown To Love" co-written with Paul Sabu, was used in the made-for-television movie "SECRETS BETWEEN FRIENDS" on NBC and LIFETIME, and she performed the theme song for the "BIKINI OPEN" on pay-per view and international syndication, co-written w/ Mark and Steve Collins.
In May of 2000, actor GABRIEL BYRNE summoned her to meet with him when he was starring in the Tony award winning Broadway play, A MOON FOR THE MISBEGOTTEN, after she had her Celtic flavored song, "Rope Of Faith" sent to him. MARTY BALIN has praised her music and recently sent some of her songs to a young female artist he discovered. PETER COOPER, staff music critic for THE TENNESSEAN, writes, "Her voice is the most striking element, I think: full and pretty, yet distinctive. The songwriting is really good." MICK LASALLE, film critic for the SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE, claims her songs are so memorable, they have kept him awake at night, dancing through his head.
Equally at home on a stage of any size - with a guitar in her hand and a microphone and audience in front of her, solo or with a band, she can be seen performing around any town she happens to be in. Kimberlye has put out her first CD "SYCAMORE STREET, a blend of trip hop, funky pop, and acoustic ballads, with her one-of-a-kind voice and presence. Currently, Kimberlye is the music critic and writer of the hilarious column, "ALMOST FAMOUS – THE KIMBERLYE GOLD STORY" for the SAN FRANCISCO HERALD, which won "Best Neighborhood Newspaper" in the "Best Of 2001" issue of the SAN FRANCISCO WEEKLY. She is also a freelance writer for The Bay Area Buzz, an offshoot of the now defunct Gavin Magazine, and many publications across the country. BEN FONG-TORRES, former senior editor of ROLLING STONE, has recently been singing both her musical and journalistic praises, "She writes like the rocker she is: high energy, let-it-all-hang-out, and take no prisoners".
