Artist description
Born in Hamilton Ontario, this son of a steelworker comes from a rich historical lineage of musicians.
His Mother is an award-winning vocalist and his crippled Uncle was a champion fiddler that dominated the
Maritime fiddling competition circuit in the 40s and 50s. Constantly surrounded by talent and song by practically every other family member, it would only seem natural for David Gillis to continue in the same tradition. |

Press Reviews
David Gillis sings with an original voice, grounded in the best North American songwriting traditions. He is also a killer guitar player (I mean that in a good way, of course!). His new CD is a treat to listen to, well recorded and featuring some great playing. Real, heartfelt music.
Don Ross,
Sony-Narada, Recording Artist
"As I listen to David Gillis, I keep wondering-- why isn't this guy famous
already? He's that good. His production style is refreshing, yet familiar, with touches of Tom Petty, Dylan, and the Beatles, and his deft lyrics aim straight toward our hearts. Everyone's complaining about the dismal state of pop music on the radio these days. Let's get David's music on there and give them a reason to listen again!"
“His originality permeates his style completely. This is a 'Must Have' for all you fingerstyle guitarist/composers out there. There's no question in my mind that we will be hearing more of David Gillis”.

“Breezy virtuosity as a solo guitarist
The material is so catchy ... and Gillis's presentation is so amiable”.
