Artist description
Headshear is a modern groove oriented instrumental ensemble with a huge emphasis on polyrhythm, lush harmonies, and subtle textures.
The music features the organic compositional structures devised by main composers Deirdre Lynds and Gwynn Adams. Drenched in the expansive sound of three guitars the music is propelled by a jazz/funk rhythm section. From bone crunching atonal rock to the shimmering harmonic textures of 20th Century classical they exhibit an alternative vision to the plethora of todays fusion bands.

Artist History
Headshear is the brainchild of guitarists/composers Deirdre Lynds and Gwynn Adams. They started writing and playing together in 1995 with keyboardist composer Adrian Foster. At that time both Deidre and Adrian were earning their degrees in composition under Elinor Armer at the SF Conservatory.
After parting ways with Adrian in 96, they struggled to find the right musicians to make their music a reality while they continued to hone their writing skills and repertoire. They are excited to announce a new lineup. With the addition of Van Spragin on fretless, Matthew Guggemos on kit drums and third guitarist Wally Scharold, Headshear finally feels like a complete band. All are great players with the right instincts for the music and the chemistry is explosive.
