Deborah is a bard in the true sense of the word - touching the hearts and minds of her audience with a depth that is both sensual and spiritual. This is no ordinary act. Sprout digs in deeply to the roots (no pun intended), to the core, to our very souls. |

Artist History
Growing up in a "jock" town in New Jersey, Deborah felt herself isolated more often than perhaps is currently considered healthy for a young girl. Time alone, however, is what taught her to search deep inside herself for meaning and understanding. Time alone is also what encouraged her to venture into artistic areas she might otherwise have never explored. Hours were spent listening to an amazingly diverse collection of musicians. She listened and learned that the best were those who dared to truly reveal deeper parts of themselves through their singing, and especially through their songs. She began to write, imitating those she so greatly respected but, sharing her songs with almost no one.
Deborah studied Music Theory/Classical Voice and has sung in various classical, gospel, folk and pop groups throughout the years. She began to pursue her Singer/Songwriter career (finally daring to perform her own works) in 1994, one year after the sudden (and numbing) death of her husband. After years of writing almost nothing, the floodgates were suddenly thrown open and her heart began to pour forth all the pain and anguish, the terrible frustrations, and most of all, the memories and love.
Finally acknowledging her leanings toward Jazz, R&B and Latin rhythms, she began to incorporate these styles into recording her songs - giving them an interesting and intelligent twist. Her first full-length cd, "You'll Just Never Know"(includes the single, "One More Day"), certainly reflects this musical awakening/evolution, but it is the heart and soul that shine throughout this album, that makes it worth the buying. |
