Artist description
Alias, a good place to start would be with Webster's definition, but I can't seem to find my dictionary. Do I own a dictionary? Yes I think I do, as well as a thesaurus. So how does Alias define itself? A rock band, as well as folk, hip hop, blues, funk, and a country group. A band that is practiced in the art of labeling to the extent that they defy labels. All the labels are pushed and redefined. So what is left is just another rock band. So why do I keep asking questions and answering them myself? It is a effective technique for making dramatic conclusions and emphasizing the points. Alias was formed by a pack of drifters jumping cars on the O.M.N. Express, searching for their identity. Roaming from bar to bar on the "open mic night" tour, each night playing under a different name until they had secured and pushed their original sound. They became united as the band, or should I say "a band" called Alias. The band continues to grow with a sarcastic probe into society, culture, and politics. Finding a personality in a world of classification and organization begs the question, is this personality real? As Jesse Shultzenburger from the band Ginata Pinata puts it. "those guys are the real deal."
Who are those guys? A better question might be, “who will they be tomorrow?” How do you label or define them? What do you call them? How about Alias? That's what I would do.
