    Artist History
It was a hot, humid, and slow May 2001 afternoon in Brandon Bevington's attic. Greg Martin wasn't even in the band long enough to know their name. They was jammin, or tryin to, when a heated argument over some insignificant shit caused Greg and his previous band to part ways forever, mostly because of their lead guitarist. The following day in 7th period Spanish class, this little red head named Tim Rebich kept bitching that he had nobody to play with...STATEFISH WAS BORN. "The name will just come to us" they said. And only a few weeks later in a conversation following 6th Period English, Greg's previous drummer Brandon Bevington noted to him that "We even have State fish." "Hmm....good name for a band" Greg thought. Tim agreed, and they were well on their way. There was only one problem, 1 talented drummer + 1 beginning guitarist + 0 singers + 0 bassists = SHIT. So with news of this new band, Matt Maher mentioned to Greg that he had been learning how to play guitar, maybe he could teach him some things. A few tips later and Statefish had acquired its 3rd member, Singer/Guitarist Matt Maher. However, once again: 1 moderate guitarist + 1 beginning guitarist + 1 talented drummer + 0 singers (Matt is to be discovered), + 0 bassists = STILL SHIT. They practiced all summer and coming into their senior year were still desperately searching for a lead singer. But Brian Lambert soon confronted Greg with the revelation that maybe, just maybe, they could force Matt to try and sing. So they did, and he has come a long way. They held their first concert in Joey Ryan's basement, and it went great. With continued friend/fan support they practiced harder and even landed a spot at their Senior Retreat, and who could forget that 16 year old's birthday party, and also Morgan Byrnes' 16th as well. Recently, as of 11/01, Statefish acquired Jeff Byrnes at bass, following news that his previous guitarist had been expelled from CCHS. Statefish has just recently finished recording their debut album, "fallin' behind the gravy train" which features 10 original songs written by Statefish.
