Press Reviews
Together, the Lozinski's punch out a set of tunes with such High Energy & Perfect Intonation, it's hard to believe they haven't been doing this for decades. In the band's promotional materials, they dare listeners to keep their feet still -- and that's not arrogant boasting, it's a simple truth. The album is a Dynamic Collection of traditional Scots-Irish and North American tunes.
I challenge anyone to find more spirited readings of this material. The disc ends with an Exuberant Interpretation of "Orange Blossom Special"…Fiddlers 3 have produced a Fine, Highly Polished & Very Exciting Album to Kick off their Career. I'm looking forward to see what they do next! ~ Tom Knapp (Editor, Rambles Cultural Arts Magazine)

Now they’ve recorded a brilliant CD of traditional reels, polkas, and mournful ballads...Listening to these musical celebrations, I see green Irish hills and feel a bright warm sun. Most of these tracks are medleys of traditional folk tunes, celebrations of music and playful, dancing notes. They slow down the pace sometimes with wistful ballads like “She Beg She More” and the rainy city street feel of “Tam Balalaika.” But when they launch into “St. Anne’s Reel,” I couldn’t help smiling. They left the audience sounds on the track, and when I hear the clapping and cheering and feet stomping, I feel a little envious at the fun they’re having...It is impossible to be stressed out while listening to this music. ~ Jennifer Layton (Reviewer, Indie-Music.com)

What could be better than whiskey before breakfast with a fiddle player? The answer: "Whiskey Before Breakfast" with three fiddlers, provided that they play in tune and in sync with each other. Luckily, that's what you get with Fiddlers 3, whose interpolations put a new spin on classic material. They're a family band, whose Lozinski surname belies their robust, confident approach to the Celtic and related genres. With five members in the lineup, one provides the beat on spoons and/or washboard, a second enhances rhythm, texture, and melody on accordion, and the remaining three execute largely unison but occasionally harmonized fiddle parts. Their performance on two medleys, beginning with the bluegrass staple "Whiskey Before Breakfast" and the Irish tune "Julie Delaney" respectively, reflects the vigorous tradition associated with the Nova Scotian fiddlers Ashley MacIsaac and Natalie MacMaster, though the blended fiddle parts betray no rough edges...Fiddlers 3 deserves commendation for creating a broad repertoire and relying on the originality of their sound, rather than encouraging a more stereotyped perception, to make their favorable impression. ~ Robert L. Doerschuk (Former Editor-in-Chief of Musician Magazine & Multiple ASCAP Deems Taylor Award Winner) |
