Artist History
Formed in summer 2001 by Aaron Austin and Sam McIntire in the middle of the road. Closer to then started with the ideal of only playing instrumental acoustic metal, but it soon became far more than that. Clint Kehlert was asked to join early in 2002, bringing his own unique blend of blues, and melancholy to the mix. Now in our second year of existence, the future looks bright. Having just released our first full length album "perfection through apostasy" we await the future with open arms. The album is a look at the past and the future of closer to then. The first song wings of stone deffinetly shows where our musical direction is headed.May enlightenment find you all. -closer to then |

Press Reviews
"Wings of stone - the first track opens beautifully with keyboards, slide guitars and acoustics....aarons soft vocals add a good mood for the entire song. It was very different than the version live, but thats a give in. I really really like this song and am curious to see the lyrics as to what its about. Tremolos and keyboards fill in the space between the guitars strumming along...very soothing and very pretty. A great opening song..Long, but not boring. Dynamic changes and tempo changes usually in the middle of the song refresh us from the soothing feeling. very good song.."
"Aaron, Clint, and Kevin did an amazing job with this cd, and if you remotely like these guys i reccomend buying it. Personally i feel there was no hype for this cd to be great because these guys are an amazingly talented band and wrote and recorded a CD i think alot of bands WISH they could have written."
