Artist History
Formed out of a need to make music, Car Bomb Theory's members have played in various projects and in various groups both together and apart, bringing their musicianship, diversity, life experience, honesty, drive, and open-mindededness to their music. This new incarnation of Car Bomb Theory was formed in July, 2003. The original lineup established in late 2000-early 2001 included founding members Javier Dueñas as vocalist and his brother Daniel Dueñas on bass along with David Santos on guitar, later additions include Maykell Lorenzo on guitar, and Rimsky Pons (of Humbert fame, visit www.humbert.net) on drums. Unfortunately, the previous lineup of Car Bomb Theory was eventually dissolved in January, 2002 due to internal conflicts, but founding members Javier Dueñas and David Santos continued to play together on and off and, thanks to Javier's chance encounter with singer-songwriter virtuoso Mike McKay, reorganized the group in July, 2003. Now back on the drums, Javier Dueñas was a key member of Miami's late nineties hardcore champions, Brethren (http://www.mp3.com/brethren), having toured and recorded with that group extensively and brings much of that hardcore element into play in the new incarnation of Car Bomb Theory along with Mike McKay's inspired songwriting, powerful, melodic vocals, and guitar stylings. Bassist Ronnie Gutierrez, while better known for his talent on guitar, having performed with such acts as the Marley Family at the 2003 Bob Marley festival in Miami's Bayfront Park, holds down the bottom end with rock-solid consistency, adding his own unique musical elements to the mix. Guitarist and founding member David Santos completes the picture, having played and toured with Javier in the mid-nineties emo-punk group known as POP. |
