Artist description
The Alternative jazz quintet Candali resides in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Bassist Steve Campbell, drummer/percussionist Joel Marsh and guitarist/vocalist Jeff Torbert (members of the now-defunct band Fair Kero) were joined by lead vocalist Melissa Renshaw and keyboardist Richard Aucoin in the fall of 2001 to mark the beginning of Candali. The band has begun to emerge in halifax as "musical trendsetters" (Chris LaRoche - Dalhousie Gazette) following numerous shows in local bars headlining and opening (for acts such as Grand Theft Bus). Candali has recorded two 3-song samplers to date, and plans to release a full-length album sometime late 2003 hoping for additional funding through government organizations or local labels. Original material with an original approach are the trademarks of Candali's unique sound. Compared to Artists such as Pink Floyd, The Grateful Dead, and Return to Forever, the band continues to grow musically with more and more people coming out to catch Candali's spontaneous and exciting live shows.
