    Artist description
Energetic, in-your-face melodic riffs intertwined with positive politically and socially conscious messages are the name of the game for Pittsburgh punk rockers, THE CODE. Their raw, honest and tangible rhetoric combined with powerful sing-along melodies have the ability to get the most jaded punk rock fans to stand up and take notice. One listen to their debut A-F Records CD, "Alert, Aware, Involved," (recorded at the legendary Sonic Iguana Studios in Lafayette, IN by Mass Giorgini) will remind all fans of the genre as to why they fell in love with punk rock in the first place, both musically and ethically.

    Press Reviews
Unlike some labels, A-F seems to require something from each band they sign: talent. The Code is another shining example of music done well. It came as no surprise to learn from their website that this band is influenced by Operation Ivy, NOFX, and Anti-Flag, as their album really shines off the learned examples. You've got tight NOFX-style drums in most of the tracks with double kick and all, two excellent tracks done Op Ivy style, and subtle political resistance lyrics dropped about the album. This is especially notable in "John Doe", a song about a Vietnam veteran turned homeless, and the absurd decision America made by throwing kids with guns to fight an unequal enemy in their jungle for reasons unknown. This style of music is best accompanied with bands like Strike Anywhere and Pipedown. Check out their website at www.theecode.com for a more detailed look. -Modern Fix, April 2002
