From Electroage. SINO's first demo contains four instrumental tracks that offer us a knocking blend of experimental distorted guitar parts with harsh industrial sounds and EBM inspired rhythms. The demo begins with Black Blood and Mad Brain, a trash song lead by a heavily distorted guitar. It has a slow harsh drum pattern deepened by post-industrial sounds. Junk Me… starts as a cold ambient track, to become surprisingly violent afterwards. The echoing machinery sounds, percussion and distant delayed guitar lead you through the first half of the song. Then SINO decides to crash everything on the wall by adding an incredibly disfigured guitar melody. M(A)D is an unexpected masterpiece. Indeed, the ingenuity that lies behind the progression of the track's intensity is delightful. It begins with a rather simple structure, but as the elements are added one after the other, the song becomes saturated with textures. The rhythm starts as a break beat inspired pattern, with an EBM edge in it. Then it becomes funky, groovy, and irresistible. Sadistic Hyper Lover is the "smoothest" track of the demo. Its combination of slow melancholic organ melodies with fast EBM rhythms really creates a weird ambience. It gets weirder when the organ becomes crazy and goes as fast as the beat. SINO's first demo clearly demonstrates that he has a facility to combine opposing elements: smooth with aggressive, slow with fast. The concept is pretty simple, but it's not always easy to do. This combination brings an unpredictable aspect to his work. In addition to that, the echoing noises and delayed or highly distorted guitars make his work sound almost experimental. But still, the structures he has built are simple enough to make each song easy to listen to. Review by Jode @ Electroage All rights reserved.2001. From The New Empire. Electronic sounds meet hardcore guitars in an interesting way. That痴 the essence of the sound of SINO from Japan. Four tracks can be found on this demo and they blend different styles like techno, industrial grindcore, noise and and ambient to an explosive mixture. Japanese electronic music was always something special, acts like Merzbow had formative influence on a whole genre and sub-culture and so this tracks are also unique. It begins with a harsh industrial-metal track with a brutal guitar, heavy beats and a lot of noise called 釘lack Blood & Mad brain・and ends with the best track called 鉄adistic Hyper Love・ a fast, confusing and weird collage of different sounds, rhythm-patterns and very atmospheric sound-layers and an organ gone crazy! Interesting stuff, no standard-material and all who are interested should surf the homepage of SINO to learn more about this artist. - Toxin of NewEmpire
