Artist description
evilchild is the bastard offspring of the modern
acoustic movement of the late 60's and early 70's.
Currently evilchild is a three-piece group
comprised of vocalist/guitarist,
violist/keyboardist and drummer, but it will soon
incorporate a bassist. Its members are all
accomplished musicians and have a long history in
the performing arts. Their style of music borrows
from a variety of influences ranging from
medieval folk, classical, 60's & 70's acoustic
rock, and gothic rock music. The musical pictures
painted by the group are brooding & sweet, honest
& twisted, angelic & disturbing. They have the
theatrical quality of groups such as Radiohead and
Queen, the rawness and lyrically quality of Cat
Stevens and Tori Amos.
Christopher Lee Frazer (lead singer/songwriter/
guitarist) has a background in musical theatre.
A strong lyricist, he has been writing, singing
and performing since an early age. His roots lie
in the acoustic era of the late 60's and early
70's. His voice has been likened to early Tim Finn
and the late Jeff Buckley.
Melissa Shong (singer/violist/keyboardist) has
been classically trained from birth. Her
background in classical music and operatically
trained voice, reconciled with a love of Nine
Inch Nails have spawned a somewhat eclectic
approach to music-making. She has appeared as a
host of 'Channel V' and has directed various stage
plays.

Artist History
Previously, evilchild was a purely acoustic
outfit, with no drums and a second
singer/songwriter/guitarist, Jonathon Devoy, who
can be heard on "Culling" and occasionally still
guests with evilchild on stage.
John has been acting professionally for three
years in both television and film and is a
multi - talented musician, accomplished at playing
more instruments than there is room. He can also
be seen in the electro-goth-industrial band 'Jerk'
as their lead singer.

Press Reviews
"Evil Child started the night off with beautifully
melancholic interpretations of "The Ocean" &
"Houses of the Holy". I noticed that Jonathon
Devoy was not present for Evil Child, I'm curious
as to why? Hence, this set was played as a duo
with guitar/vocals & piano by Chris & Melissa.
Anyhow, I've liked Evil Child's sound since I
first saw them at The Excelsior a couple of months
back, and they did not disappoint with their
interpretations of these Zep tunes."
