Artist description
The foursome is backstage, buzzed while the crowd's energy is pouring, no, surging through the velvet curtain. They hold strong though, battling the waves of anticipation outside. Each glimpses at the other, faces focused not talking but fixed, sensing the shrill of energy beyond the curtain.
Announced, the band springs and files out into pure intensity: Joey appears first on stage from blackness. Like on a mission, sticks in hand, he steps up to drum. Outcries flood the gig's hazy air. Skilled on bass, Rich follows, commanding depth and rhythm. Simon digs in next, focused on lead guitar, serving out energy: again a rushing response from the turnout. Finally it's Robb Rocket. . . the voice. Behind the lights, behind the lasers, beyond that velvet cloak is the invincible voice. It emerges in waves, rippling, oozing over the unsuspecting group. The voice is contagious, resonating and infectious. It flexes, halts, then cuts again, illuminating the crowd. The same crowd that's painfully accustomed to so many pseudo-singers. Not here. This voice is for real.
While onlookers groove, the four members that are Burst taste victory in that haze-thick air. The crowd unknowingly joins, basking in the band's triumph. . .
As a case study in contrast, Burst makes an excellent subject. Their sound, pounding and gritty, marks a rare strain in the industry. Burst's members: Robb Rocket, Simon Vallee, Rich Howard and Joey Fiorino, refuse to be pigeon-holed as musically mediocre. As a result, they've produced an original rock sound which exhilarates a recently anemic industry.
Burst found its beginnings in May of 1997. Since then, this band has cultivated a unique sound and growing repertoire of original songs with each member contributing their diverse musical abilities. The band has a finely tuned chemistry. This is combined with an image that exudes passion and professionalism. A traditional feel is predominant in the music, fused with a modern sensibility and just the right amount of groove.
