Artist History Orphan Gypsy was formed 1998, and have don 5 demos. In September 2002 Orphan Gypsy records the 500-copies, self produced mini-cd “Darkland Director” a demo/cd that gave them a record deal with the Italian label Underground Symphony. During eight weeks in the spring of 2003 Orphan Gypsy records the debut album “Aftermath”.

Press Reviews Portal forum (New Zealand) ORPHAN GYPSY - DARKLAND DIRECTOR DEMO (2002) The amount of potential that this band oozes is staggering. Yes, they're another Scandinavian melodic metal band, but Orphan Gypsy stand head and shoulders above most. It's surprising, considering the material on the Darkland Director demo, that they've signed with a relatively small label Underground Records. I would have thought that many of the major melodic metal labels, such as Noise, or AFM, would have grabbed these guys with both hands. Nonetheless, I'm glad the band have found a home. Even before receiving a copy of the demo, I had downloaded the songs from MP3.com and have been playing them solidly for the past month. Each of the four songs on the demo are extremely melodic, with a nod towards Angra and a touch of Iron Maiden. Along with a fantastic vocalist, Orphan Gypsy have a great ear for harmonies and choruses. 'Under The Sun' is the standout track with one of most memorable guitar melodies I've heard in a while. I'm not even sure the band should use the word 'demo' with this as the production would put many big label acts to shame. Hopefully signing with a smaller label won't hinder this amazing band in getting the recognition that they are due. The band go into the studio in March 2003 to record their full-length debut 'Aftermath'. Along with Black Majesty, I'm confident Orphan Gypsy will end up on many top 10 lists by the end of 2003.
